ANZAC Day Task
On 25th April each year, people in Australia and New Zealand remember those who went to war so that we could live in a country as free as Australia is today. We pay tribute to these people on 25th April. Your task today is to investigate six different people who were involved in a war that Australia fought in and answer some different questions about these people.
Your tasks:
1. Click here to read about six different service men and women. Read carefully as you will have to answer questions at the end.
2. Click here to complete a puzzle about different events about ANZAC Day.
3. Click here to complete a timeline of wars that Australia has been involved in and the uniforms worn.
4. Read here about why poppies are important on ANZAC Day. Create your own poem on the use of poppies around ANZAC Day.
***Once you have finished, you need to create a Powtoons that explains each of these ideas to your buddy. Ensure you cover information about the six different service men and women, the puzzles, the timeline of wars Australia has been involved in and their uniforms and why poppies are important around ANZAC Day.

Narrative Writing (From Miss Screaigh's website)
You are required to edit and publish the narrative which you wrote in class as an assessment.
Below are the steps which you are required to follow:
You are required to edit and publish the narrative which you wrote in class as an assessment.
Below are the steps which you are required to follow:
- Ensure you have completed a self assessment, and one of your peers has completed the assessment.
- Have a look at your story starter. We have looked at many different ways that you can begin a narrative, is yours interesting and engaging? Change if you need to.
- You are to select five different colours (I would prefer highlighters, if not texta or pencil is fine) and in one colour you are to highlight / underline all the nouns. In another colour you are to identify all the verbs. The third colour should locate all adjectives, the fourth colour all adverbs. The final colour should be used to highlight any descriptive language.
- Create a MindNode. Your stories title should be at the centre, and the five main nodes should be nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and descriptive language. You are required to read through your text and place all nouns in the right category ect. You must then look at all of your nouns..did you use an adjective to describe it? No, add one! Look at all of your verbs...did you use an adverb to describe it? No, add one! Descriptive language...you are in Year Six and Seven...you must be using descriptive language! Add some! If you would prefer to do this on pages, click on the adjective picture to the left and open it with pages. Enter your information in here instead.
- Have a look at your word choice. Have you described something as pretty, ugly or nice? I am sure you can use a better word than that. Have you repeated some words quite often, see what you can change.
- You are now ready to publish. Refer back to the marking guide (as this is what I will use to assess your final product) and see what other corrections you need to make. If you are stuck on something or need a hand, please come and see me!
- Have FUN!!
